About the Artist
Shalu, like many, discovered hidden talents during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the lockdowns and disruptions, she had no inkling of her latent artistic abilities. It all began as a simple hobby to pass the time—she started painting to find solace and distraction during the long days at home.
As Shalu delved deeper into her newfound passion, she found herself particularly drawn to the rich and diverse traditions of Indian folk art. The vibrant colors and intricate designs captivated her, and she began to teach herself various styles, from Madhubani to Warli and beyond. Her dedication and natural talent quickly became evident.
Recognizing the potential of her skills, Shalu decided to share her knowledge and passion with others. She started offering online classes, attracting enthusiasts from India and around the world. Her classes became a hit, providing not only technical skills but also a deep appreciation for the cultural significance of Indian folk art.
What began as a hobby soon turned into a thriving venture. Encouraged by the positive feedback and growing interest, Shalu expanded her activities to include selling her artworks. Her pieces, each a blend of traditional techniques and her unique touch, found a market among art lovers globally.
Today, Shalu's journey from a novice painter to a respected artist and teacher is an inspiring testament to the power of discovering and nurturing one's hidden talents. She continues to create and teach, spreading the beauty of Indian folk art far and wide.
